Permits are required in the Florida Building Code. The following activities require a building permit unless exempted in writing by the Building Official:
- Erection
- Construction
- Alteration or repair of a building
- Structure
- Electrical
- Gas
- Mechanical or plumbing system.

A request must be made prior to six months from the issue date of the permit. Only one extension request will be granted for a period of 90 days, and there is a $15 charge per trade processing fee.

All permitted construction must be inspected. You must call 813-780-0020 to schedule the inspection. Any inspection called before 7:00 a.m. will be scheduled the same day.

Because of the volume of inspections, we are unable to provide an estimated time of arrival for our inspector; however, his normal field hours are from 7:00am - 3:30pm. If the inspection has been carried over from the previous workday, the inspection will be given priority on the morning of the next work day.
